The Salto Yucumã waterfall - Saltos del Moconá in Spanish - is said to be the longest longitudinal waterfall in the world (1,800 meters). It is located on the border between the northeast Argentine province of Misiones and the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul , about 20 km from the small town of Derrubadas . On the Argentine side is the Parque provincial Moconá nature reserve , on the Brazilian side the Parque Estadual do Turvo (Turvo State Park). The water curtain, up to 15 meters high, is on the Argentine side of the Río Uruguay , but the Brazilian side offers a better view of how the river falls into the basalt fissure .
In Tupí-Guaraní , Yucumã means great fall .
