Location and building

The Salvatorgarage is located on Salvatorplatz in downtown Munich opposite the Salvator Church . Not only the remains of the medieval city wall border the building , but also the Maiden's Tower .

use

The public car park offers around 465 parking spaces, 30 women's and five disabled parking spaces on nine levels. Part of the structure is also an office wing that also houses a shop.

history

The car park was built in 1964/65 by the architect Franz Hart . When choosing the material, the architect based himself on the remains of the old city wall, which he incorporated into the brick building of the garage.

In 2006 the listed parking garage was increased by 2.5 storeys after a renovation according to the plans of the Munich architect Peter Haimerl . The most important design element is a galvanized steel facade which crowns the building and covers the new floors. The pattern of the galvanized facade was calculated with the help of a computer based on the brick facade.
