SalzburgMilch is based in the city of Salzburg, and there has been another plant in Lamprechtshausen since 2014 .

history

SalzburgMilch was founded on July 1, 2013 on the occasion of the merger of Alpenmilch Salzburg and Käsehof . The Käsehof GmbH was as the transferring company in the Alpine milk Salzburg Ges.mbH merged as the absorbing company. At the same time, Alpenmilch Salzburg Ges.mbH was renamed SalzburgMilch GmbH . It was a universal succession; this means that all contracts were automatically transferred to the new company. Since 2013, the products of the previous brands have been switched to SalzburgMilch .

In 2014, the new SalzburgMilch cheese dairy went into operation. On a built-up area of 20,000 m², up to five different types of milk can be processed and up to 15,000 tons of cheese can be produced, matured and stored per year. For the cheese production copper pavers are used and z. B. the hay milk specialties "Original Bergkäse" or "Salzburger Emmentaler" made from raw milk. In 2015 the “Original Almkönig” was awarded the “Cheese Emperor”.

In June 2017, SalzburgMilch presented an animal health concept with specifications with regard to animal husbandry, a regular health check for the animals and its own external animal health advisory board.

SalzburgMilch went one step further with the “Reine Lungau - Milk from the Biosphere Park” concept. In addition to the strict animal health guidelines, it is important to get along with what is available in the region. Participating organic farmers grow their own grain at over 1,000 m above sea level and only feed the cows with green fodder and grain from the Lungau. No feed is bought from outside the Lungau.

In spring 2020, Meggle's shares were bought back by the cooperatives. The dairy is 100% owned by the local dairies again. With retroactive effect from January 1, 2020, the Käsehof property cooperative eGen in Lamprechtshausen merged with the Milchhof Salzburg reg. Gen.mbH During the merger, the Käsehof brought its capital and assets into the new larger cooperative. The resolution is to be taken at the General Assembly in July 2020 [out of date] . In the future the Milchhof Salzburg reg. Gen.mbH 78.88 percent, Tauernmilch reg. Gen.mbH in Bischofshofen 21.12 percent.

production

The company locations of SalzburgMilch GmbH are the headquarters in Salzburg and Plant 2 in Lamprechtshausen, whereby the production of dairy products is divided as follows:

  • City of Salzburg: Production of White and Colorful Line, cream cheese
  • Lamprechtshausen: production of hard and semi-hard cheese

The plant in Lamprechtshausen was built from 2013 to 2014 as a “cheese competence center”. On a built-up area of 20,000 m², up to five different types of milk can be processed and up to 15,000 tons of cheese can be produced and stored per year. For the cheese production copper pavers are used and z. For example, the hay milk specialties Original Bergkäse or Salzburger Emmentaler are made from raw milk as they used to be. The high quality standards in Plant 2 of SalzburgMilch were officially confirmed for the Original Almkönig just a few months after commissioning by the Käsekaiser in 2015.

The milk delivered comes exclusively from small farms with an average number of 16 dairy cows. When evaluating the farmers, we work closely with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna.
