The Sam Nujoma Stadium ( English Sam Nujoma Soccer Stadium ) is a soccer stadium with 10,300 seats that was completed in Windhoek , Namibia in 2005 . It is located in the Katutura district . The construction costs amounted to N $ 64 million (approx. € 5.5 million ). The stadium, which is the most modern in Namibia, has had artificial turf since 2008. On June 8, 2009, the stadium reopened after renovation work on the drainage system.
The 2014 African Cup of Nations played in the stadium.

Stadium condition
On January 23, 2015, it became known that parts of one of the spectator stands were said to have sagged due to rainfall. The renovation of the grandstand part began in mid-February 2015. The building company responsible spoke of a foundation that would have easily come loose over the years.
Confusion of names
It is often incorrectly stated that Independence Stadium has been given a new name, namely Sam Nujoma Stadium.
