Samuel "Sam" Bullock (born October 7, 1913 in Wolverhampton , † 3rd quarter 1978 ibid) was an English football player .

Career

Bullock played from 1933 as a left winger for Oakengates Town in the Birmingham & District League . In April 1934 he was part of a Shropshire XI for a game against Wolverhampton Wanderers (final score 2-2). In late February 1935 he was brought to Stockport County by Fred Westgarth in the Third Division North . In competition with Bert Hales , he came in the rest of the season to three competitive appearances, in a second round win in the Third Division North Cup against Halifax Town , he scored one goal. His detour into the Football League was already over in August 1935 when he agreed with Stockport to end his membership and returned to Oakengates, where he and his brother George formed the wing tongs.

In 1936 both moved to league rivals Stafford Rangers and drew attention there. In a match report in January 1937, it was noted: “The Bullock brothers were the outstanding strikers on the field. They are real artists with the ball and a constant source of concern for opposing defenses. ”The aforementioned interest from Football League clubs in the two only resulted in a move for one of the brothers: George transferred to Barnsley FC in the spring of 1937 . Sam Bullock, meanwhile, moved again within the league to Brierley Hill Alliance in the summer of 1937 . In November, the Sports Argus ascribed him "excellent form", in April 1938 he scored with a directly converted corner against Bangor City .
