Samanda is an English pop music duo consisting of the identical twins Amanda Louise and Samantha "Sam" Joanne Marchant (born June 26, 1988 in Knutton , Newcastle-under-Lyme , Great Britain ). In 2007, they took part in the eighth season of the television show Big Brother in the UK and became known through it.
Life
Before Big Brother
Sam was born on June 26, 1988, five minutes before her identical twin sister, Amanda Marchant, in Knutton, England. Before moving into the Big Brother house, both studied social work at Manchester Metropolitan University . Her favorite color is pink .
During Big Brother
Amanda and Sam were the first pair of twins to take part in Big Brother UK . They moved into the house first on May 30, 2007 and left after 94 days on August 31 as runner-up with 39.7% of the vote (for a win) behind the winner Brian Belo . Except for Amanda and Sam, only Carole was a participant from the first to the last day. During their time in the house, they did not get a single nomination vote.
When Amanda and Sam moved in, they moved in as independent residents - therefore they had to nominate independently, could be nominated as Amanda or Sam and took part in tasks individually. On the 69th day they accepted an offer from Big Brother and from there they were only one resident - therefore had to nominate together, could only be nominated as Amanda and Sam and took part in tasks together. During this time the two were given the name Samanda by the press , a combination of their two first names Sam and Amanda .
After Big Brother
On September 2nd - two days after they moved out - Samanda recorded a cover version of the hit song Barbie Girl by Danish band Aqua after signing a deal with Sony BMG . This song, which they sang during their time in the Big Brother house, is, according to their own account, their favorite song. The single was released on October 1, after the song could already be downloaded for payment a week earlier . They entered the UK Top 40 at number 26 .
Since early November 2007, after signing a two-year contract with Young and Pure , they have had their own range of skin care and fragrances ; the target group for Samanda by Young and Pure are girls and young women aged 10 to 21 years. In 2007 Samanda also signed a contract with the model agency Select Model Management .
They have lived in London ever since .
In 2008 her trim-up DVD Samanda - The Twins: Dance Workout and the charity single Honey Love were released .
