The Samokov Knoll (English; Bulgarian Самоковска могила Samokowska mogila ) is a 602 m high hill on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In the area around the Yankov Gap it rises as a prominent landmark 0.48 km southwest of Melnik Peak , 0.86 km north of Asparuh Peak , 3.25 km east of Hemus Peak and 2.3 km northwest of Atanasoff Nunatak .
Bulgarian scientists mapped it in the course of surveying the Tangra Mountains between 2004 and 2005. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2005 after the town of Samokow in western Bulgaria .
