Samson Rothschild

Samson Rothschild (born January 11, 1848 in Külsheim ; died June 10, 1939 in London ) was a German Jewish teacher and historian .

Life

In 1872 he became a Jewish religion teacher in Worms . In 1874 he was employed as the first Jewish teacher in the Grand Duchy of Hesse at a municipal elementary school, the Worms City School. He was also secretary and archivist of the Jewish community in Worms . He retired in 1928.

His numerous publications on the history of the Jewish Worms have the character of a source , as numerous original sources were lost between 1933 and 1945.

Samson Rothschild had to emigrate to England in 1939. He is buried in the East Ham Jewish Cemetery in London.
