The Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadı is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the center of the Turkish city ​​of Samsun . It is the venue of the football club Samsunspor from the TFF 1st Lig and offers space for 19,720 spectators.

Stadium name

The stadium was named after May 19 (19 Mayıs) in 1919. The arrival of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in Samsun on this day marked the beginning of the war of liberation and is still celebrated as a national holiday in Turkey today.

International match

The first and so far last game of the Turkish national soccer team in this stadium took place on May 1, 1996. Turkey defeated Ukraine 3-2. It was also the first meeting of the two countries.
