Technical details
The TFT LC display measures 7 inches with a resolution of 1024 × 600 pixels. The 1.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 ( Hummingbird ) processor has 512 MB of RAM. Additional features include a 3.2 megapixel camera with an LED flash on the back and a 1.3 MP camera for video telephony on the front, UMTS with HSDPA and HSUPA , WLAN support and the Swype touchscreen input aid . At the time of the start of sales, Android 2.2 (Froyo) was used.
In addition to the processor, the Galaxy Tab contains a separate graphics processor , the PowerVR-SGX540-GPU. Overall, this ensures that the system works more smoothly and is mainly used when shooting videos with the maximum resolution of 720 × 480 pixels and for graphically complex games. The graphics accelerator also has advantages when surfing the Internet, since Android version 2.2 has full support for Adobe Flash .
The Galaxy Tab Wifi , on the other hand, uses a less powerful PowerVR SGX530 GPU in addition to the ARM Cortex A8 processor, which is also clocked at 1.0 GHz . Under certain circumstances, this can result in jerking videos with a resolution of more than 480p. The wireless version has also held Bluetooth version 3.0 only 2.1 interface.
Gorilla Glass is used for the display .
