reception
The trade magazine MangasZene described the anime as a "successful modernized implementation of the Kurosawa classic". The motifs of the template were captured quite well and the simple character design and the environment created a harmonious atmosphere. The cyber-punk-like world is opposed to classical Japanese music. However, the animations would not live up to expectations even if the computer animations fit in well. The characters are personable and grow into their roles, and the series also contains a “good load of action”.
