San Carlos de Río Negro is a village in Venezuela , administrative center of the Municipio Río Negro . The population is about 1200 people.

history

The village was founded in 1759 as part of the expedition of José Solano y Bote . Alexander von Humboldt visited San Carlos in 1800 and undertook studies on geology and biology there.
