San Jon is a village with a status of "Village" in Quay County in the US state of New Mexico . In 2000, San Jon had 306 residents.
history
The village was founded in 1902 and grew after the arrival of the railroad in 1904. San Jon was once a major trading center along the former Route 66 and home to numerous tourist-oriented businesses such as gas stations, cafes and motels. There is only one motel left in San Jon today.

San Jon is about 40 kilometers east of Tucumcari and about 250 kilometers southeast of Santa Fe , the capital of New Mexico.
