San Menaio (formerly also San Menaio Garganico ) is a fraction of the municipality of Vico del Gargano in Italy in the province of Foggia , Apulia region and is assigned to the Gargano area . The coastal village is about seven kilometers north of Vico del Gargano, within the Foresta Umbra National Park . This tourist place between Rodi Garganico and Peschici is almost exclusively populated by holidaymakers in summer and practically deserted in winter.

San Menaio is known for its long sandy beach. and the pine forests , which are among the oldest and largest in Italy . The small town owes its fame, which rose in the early twentieth century, to the writer Nicola Serena di Lapigio , who praised the picturesque beauty of the coastal village in his works and to the painter and comic artist Andrea Pazienza , who made San Menaio his adopted home.
