San Pedro de Guasayán (also: San Pedro ) is the capital of the Guasayán department in the province of Santiago del Estero in north-western Argentina . It lies on both sides of the border with the Santa Rosa department in the Catamarca province , 124 kilometers from the provincial capital Santiago del Estero and is connected to it via the Route 64 . In the classification of municipalities in the province of Santiago del Estero, it is classified as a municipality in the 3rd category.

On the side of the province of Santiago del Estero, San Pedro de Guasayán has 1,715 inhabitants (2001, INDEC ), that is 23 percent of the population of the department of Guasayán. In addition, 689 inhabitants live in the territory of the province of Catamarca. The total population of the place at the time of the last INDEC census (2001) was 2,404 inhabitants.
