The department of Guasayán is located in the center of the province of Santiago del Estero in northwest Argentina and is one of the province's 27 administrative units .

It is bordered by the Jiménez and Alberdi departments to the north, the Moreno department to the east, the Juan F. Ibarra , Sarmiento and Robles departments to the south and the Banda department to the west .

The capital of the Guasayán Department is San Pedro de Guasayán .
