The Figueroa department is located in the center of the Santiago del Estero Province in northwest Argentina and is one of the province's 27 administrative units .

It is bordered to the north by the departments of Jiménez and Alberdi , to the east by the department of Moreno , to the south by the departments of Juan F. Ibarra , Sarmiento and Robles and to the west by the department of Banda .

The capital of the Figueroa department is La Cañada .
