The Jiménez department is located in the west of the province of Santiago del Estero in northwest Argentina and is one of the province's 27 administrative units .

It is bordered by the Pellegrini Department to the north, the Alberdi Department to the east, the Figueroa , Banda and Río Hondo departments to the south and the Tucumán Province to the west .

The capital of the Jiménez department is Pozo Hondo .
