The Quebrachos department is located in the south of the province of Santiago del Estero in northwest Argentina and is one of the province's 27 administrative units .

It is bordered by the departments of Salavina and Atamisqui to the north, the department of Miter to the east, the province of Cordoba to the south and the department of Ojo de Agua to the west .

The capital of the Miter department is Sumampa .
