Sandbakken ( Norwegian for sandy slope ) is a moraine area in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . In the Wohlthat massif , this area is 3 km northwest of the Gray Horns on the west side of the western Petermann chain .
Aerial photographs of the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher were used for initial mapping. Norwegian cartographers, who also named the area descriptively, mapped it on the basis of surveys and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
