The Western Petermann Range is a mountain range in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . It rises over a length of 26 km in north-south orientation from the rock island to Aurdalen in the Wohlthat massif .
They were discovered and named during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . It is named after the German cartographer and geographer August Petermann (1822–1878).
