Sandbotnen (Norwegian for sand kettle ) is a mountain kettle occupied by a moraine in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In Pieckrücken the blessing massif he lies on the west side of Zwiesel mountain .

Aerial photographs of the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher were used for initial mapping. Norwegian cartographers, who also named it descriptively, mapped the mountain basin on the basis of measurements and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
