Sander Keller (born September 18, 1979 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch football player . Until mid-2011, the defender was under contract with the Swiss super league club Neuchâtel Xamax .
Career
Keller was trained in the youth department of Ajax Amsterdam before he left it after seven years to move to FC Utrecht . There he was part of the professional squad from the start. Since Keller did not manage to assert himself in his first year as a professional, the FCU officials decided to loan him to league competitor RBC Roosendaal for the following season . Although the club was relegated at the end of the season, Keller became a regular player. For the 2001/02 season, Roosendaal managed to immediately rise again from the Eerste Divisie to the Eredivisie . The center-back stayed for another year before the loan period ended and he returned to Utrecht in the summer of 2003. There he finally got into the starting line-up and helped defend the title of the KNVB Cup , the Dutch Cup. Shortly thereafter, Utrecht also secured the Johan-Cruyff-Schaal , as the first team alongside the big three (Ajax Amsterdam, Feyenoord Rotterdam and PSV Eindhoven ). In the following years, apart from 2006/07, when Keller only played eight games, he was a top performer as a defender and a regular in the Utrecht defense association. During the winter break of the 2010/11 season, he received an offer from the Swiss super-league club Xamax, with whom he signed a contract until summer 2012.
