Sandra Žigić (born January 19, 1988 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian soccer player .

Career

society

In 2004 she started her senior career at ŽNK Dinamo-Maksimir , where she was Croatian champion in the 2004/05 season. After four years, she left the Zagreb club and moved to the Austrian first division club FC St. Veit in the summer of 2007 . She played in 17 games in the ÖFB women's league for St. Veit / Glan before returning to Croatia. She signed with the beginning of the 2009/10 season for the newly promoted ŽNK Plamen Križevci and played for the club two seasons, where she was relegated to the 2nd division in the 2010/11 season. After a year in League 2 for Plamen Križevci, she returned to ŽNK Dinamo-Maksimir in summer 2012 and became the captain of the club from Zagreb. In the first season after her return, she reached the play-off final with Maksimir, but lost the first leg with 2: 3 and clearly the second leg with 0:14 against ŽNK Osijek . In autumn 2012 she decided to leave Croatia again and went to the USA for some studies , where she played for the Athletic / Women Soccer Team Monroe Mustangs . With Monroe, she became Division I Women's Soccer Region XV Champion in 2013 and reached the playoff final of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). After this title, Žigić said goodbye to the USA and returned to Europe in 2014, where she now signed with KKPK Medyk Konin . At Konin, she won the cup and championship double in both years. In summer 2016 she decided to return to Croatia and this time signed with ŽNK Osijek. After half a year with the start of the second half of the 2016/17 season, she moved to Switzerland to FC Neunkirch and became a double winner with compatriot Leonarda Balog . After Neunkirch announced his retirement from women's football in June 2017, Žigić signed an annual contract with the FF USV Jena in the German Allianz Women's Bundesliga on July 18, 2017 with the option of one more season. After her one-year contract in Jena had expired, she moved to Serie B with SSD Football Milan Ladies , the women's football division of AC Milan .

National team

Žigić is a national player for Croatia . She made her A international debut at the age of 17, on May 7, 2005 in a friendly against Macedonia in Đakovo . After her debut, she played in 65 other internationals and scored six goals. Before that, she had already played 15 international matches for Croatia's U-19 national team .
