She has two younger sisters (Elisabeth Knoll and Monika Knoll). In 1983 the family moved to the 22nd district of Vienna . Sandra Knoll, herself from no family of actors, came into contact with acting for the first time through a jointly developed play in elementary school. She joined the theater group in middle school and was able to prove her talent in various plays, including in June 1995 in the play "The Conference of Animals" by Erich Kästner.

From 1996 to 2000 Sandra Knoll attended the humanistic branch of the upper level high school in Hegelgasse in the 1st district of Vienna, where she also graduated. In the first year of school she joined the school's theater group and played Wendla Bergman in "Spring Awakening" by Frank Wedekind, the pupil in "The Lesson" by Eugène Ionesco and Gretchen in "Faust" by JW Goethe. During this time, she consolidated her desire to become an actress.

Sandra Knoll received her training as an actress not only at the Franz Schubert Conservatory , but during this time she also took private lessons from Noemi Fischer, among others, and deepened her skills in breathing and voice guidance, language production text analysis as well as choral work and ecstatic theater forms. Already during her apprenticeship, Sandra Knoll took part in various productions of the Wozek Theater from 2000 and from 2003 Emmy Werner brought her to the Volkstheater in Vienna for several productions .
