Sandra White (born August 17, 1951 ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Life

White attended Garthamlock Secondary School in Glasgow , Glasgow College, and Cardonald College . The long-time press spokeswoman for the William Wallace Society joined the SNP in 1983. Before being elected to the Scottish Parliament , White was a member of the Renfrewshire area councilor for the Foxbar district , a suburb of Paisley .

Political career

In the Scottish parliamentary elections in 1999 White ran for the constituency of Glasgow Kelvin , but could not prevail against Pauline McNeill of the Labor Party. Due to the election result, White received one of four mandates on the regional electoral list for the SNP in the electoral region of Glasgow and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 and parliamentary elections in 2007 White ran again for Glasgow Kelvin, but could not unite the necessary share of the vote. In both cases, however, she defended her mandate for the electoral region. White finally managed to win the direct mandate for Glasow Kelvin for the first time in the 2011 parliamentary elections. In the following parliamentary elections in 2016 , she defended her mandate despite losing votes.
