The Sandy Creek (aka Big Sandy Creek and Buffalo Creek ) is a 35 km long river in Jackson County in the US state of West Virginia . It arises at the confluence of Right Fork Sandy Creek and Left Fork Sandy Creek 800 meters south of Sandyville . From here it flows mostly in a north-westerly direction.
In about half of its course, the river crosses the Green Hills Country Club . After passing under Interstate 77 , it winds in a large left-hand arc in a wooded area south of Ravenswood , before flowing into the Ohio River .
The Sandy Creek runs mostly along the former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad -distance.
