Ming (pianist)
Silvia Yi , stage name Ming (* 1976 in Garbsen near Hanover ) is a South Korean- German pianist .
Life
Ming, who grew up in Hamburg and whose parents come from South Korea, was described by the Hamburger Abendblatt , the Hamburger Morgenpost and the Hamburger Bild edition as a "child prodigy from Hamburg". From the age of 7 she won the Steinway & Sons piano competition several times. At the age of 13 she received lessons from Prof. Bernd Zack at the Lübeck University of Music . At the age of 16 she won the first prize at the national youth music competition . Her musical career also included working with professors Igor Ozim , Karl-Heinz Kämmerling , Lazar Berman , Vitaly Margulis , Bernd Glemser and Georg Sava . She can look back on numerous television and radio appearances on RTL, NDR, ARD. Ming has been the organizer of the so-called Mingbattle since 2006 , in which two pianists fight a duel on the concert grand in a boxing ring.
