The listed (reg. No. 359) Sanguszko Palace (also called Jabłonowski Palace , in Polish: Pałacyk Sanguszków ) is a small city palace on Ulica Nowy Świat (no. 51) in Warsaw's inner city district and is therefore located on the historical part of Warsaw Royal road .
history
The palace was built around the middle of the 18th century, presumably for the Minister of the Treasury of the Polish Crown , Adam Łodzia Poniński, in rococo style. The three-storey building, equipped with a mansard roof , towered over the single-storey development that was prevalent here (outside the city center). In 1784 was the voivode of Volhynia , Hieronim Sanguszko , owner of the Palais. Towards the end of the 18th century it was owned by the Jabłonowski family . In the 1820s the voivode Maksymilian Jabłonowski lived here.
At the end of the 19th century the facades were redesigned and the Rococo ornaments were removed. In 1902 the Louvre pastry shop was set up in the Louis-Seize style . Later, a branch of the Zachodni Bank was located here .
During the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, the palace was completely destroyed by units of the Wehrmacht . It was reconstructed in 1950 by Zygmunt Stępiński as part of the rebuilding of Nowy Świat in the late Baroque style .
