Sanja Jovanović (born September 15, 1986 in Dubrovnik , Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian back swimmer .

Career

At the Olympic Games in Athens , she finished 13th over 200 m and 17th place over 100 m. In 2004 she reached third place at the 2004 European Swimming Championships . Sanja Jovanović holds the fantastic world record time of 26.50 seconds, which was set at the 2007 European Short Course Championships for swimmers in Debrecen, Hungary, over 50 meters back . With this she has improved the previous, more than six-year-old world best time of the Chinese Li Hui by 33 hundredths of a second and her best performance by 41 hundredths of a second. In a 50-meter race, that's half a world. When participating in the short course world championships in Manchester in 2008 , Jovanović swam a new world record on the 50 meter back and thus improved her world record time set at the short course European championship in Debrecen in 2007 by 23 hundredths of a second to 26.37 seconds. In the final of the 100 meters back, Sanja Jovanović took 3rd place in Manchester with 57.80 seconds.
