The St. Lawrence Church is a Protestant church in the city Ilsenburg belonging Darlingerode in Saxony-Anhalt . The parish belongs to the Halberstadt parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Architecture and history

The hall church dates back to the Middle Ages and is of Romanesque origin. Rogenstein was used as building material . Possibly the construction time falls in the period from 960 to 1024 and thus in the Ottonian period. The existence of a chapel is first mentioned in a document in 1086. To the west of the nave there is a steeple standing across the nave with an almost square floor plan and a tent roof . While the north outer wall of the ship is in alignment with the north wall of the tower, the ship protrudes slightly on the south side. The western portal and today's church windows were not built until later in 1702. The same applies to the polygonal apse added on the east side . The church was repaired in 1991.

Interior design

The interior of the church is spanned by a barrel vault made of wood. The lower part of the tower is integrated into the ship through an opening designed as a basket arch . The located inside the church three-sided gallery walking with her western wing of the organ carries up into the tower area. There is a remarkable from the time of late Gothic dating sacrament niche and a small one on the altar standing crucifix . In the church there is a bell from 1475.
