St. Peter's Church (bumps)
The Sankt-Petri-Kirche is the Protestant church in the small town of Stlocken in Saxony-Anhalt .
Architecture and history
The church goes back to the Romanesque . In addition to the semicircular apse , two arched windows have survived from this period . After the building was destroyed in 1432, it was rebuilt by 1534. The south portal was built in the late Gothic period . In 1728 the nave was rebuilt. To the west of the nave is the church tower, possibly built in 1487, with an octagonal superstructure. The tower collapsed in 1573 and was rebuilt in 1578. The crowning hood dates from the 17th century.
Interior design
The interior of the church is spanned by a flat, wooden ceiling. There is a simple horseshoe gallery . In front of the apse is a pulpit altar in the Baroque style . The wooden altar has side openings and depictions of Moses and John the Baptist . The pulpit basket is framed by pillars. Above is the figure of an angel. The figures of the princes of the apostles, possibly from the 14th century, did not originally belong to the altar. Further figures represent Mary and John the Evangelist.
In the church there is also an octagonal cupa with lily ornaments from a baptismal font from the late Romanesque period . The largest of the three church bells was cast in 1607. During the Second World War , bells were removed from the church tower for armament purposes. However, they escaped being melted down and were inaugurated again on November 2, 1947.
