The Sankt-Petri-Kirche is the Protestant church in the village of Förderstedt in Saxony-Anhalt .

architecture

The tower to the west of the nave dates back to the early Gothic era . The nave, built in 1720, was built in the Baroque style as a long hall with a hipped gable roof . An extensive restoration took place in 1902.

Furnishing

Inside the barrel-vaulted church, the galleries that still exist today were built on the south and west sides of the building in 1902 . The carved baroque fillings of the balustrade fields of the galleries come from the Quedlinburg collegiate church . On the western gallery is the organ by Ernst Röver from 1902, which is designed with a baroque organ front. The Quedlinburger 1903 Company Ferdinand Müller created which anlehnende to the Baroque colored glazing of the windows in the east wall. The Lamb of God can be seen in a small oval window above.

The pulpit made of wood by Georg Froböse in 1720 rests on a figure of Andrew . The pulpit is decorated with figures of the evangelists and other carvings. A triumphant Christ and angels with the tools of the sufferings of Christ can be seen on the sound cover . The prieche at the entrance to the pulpit also comes from Froböse .

A carved retable dates back to the 15th century . The middle shrine shows Mary with the child, flanked by Dorothea and Jakobus. Inside the wings are the images of saints arranged in two rows one above the other. The outside of the wings show scenes from the story of suffering. The top and the predella are decorated with baroque carvings.

Gravestones in the churchyard

Apart from a smaller wooden crucifix, the font is particularly noteworthy. The baptismal font is from the beginning of the 16th century. On the sides it is decorated with figures of Christ Salvator and apostles. The foot of the baptismal font comes from its inscription from 1570. It is designed with four lions and four angel heads and was renewed in the course of the renovation in 1902.
