history

A village church in Brandenstein is mentioned in a document in 1124. The small church was consecrated as the Basilica of St. Andrew , probably in 1363. The bell of the village church, which probably dates from 1480, was hung in the newly built manor chapel in 1911. From 1912 the village church was no longer used for worship. Therefore, for cost reasons, there was no more structural maintenance on the building. The church fell into disrepair and was only temporarily used as a mortuary. The decline of the church was so bad that in 1952 the lattice tower had to be removed.
