Sankt Johann is a part of the Upper Swabian community of Kammlach in Bavarian Swabia . It is located about four kilometers west of Unterkammlach and, with the exception of the west side, is surrounded by the Gall Forest . It is connected to the neighboring towns by local roads.

history

The first documentary mention was in 1167, when Abbot Isingrim von Ottobeuren donated a relic to the pilgrimage church of St. Johann . In 1437 Rudolf von Hohentahann sold goods and rights in Sankt Johann to the Heiliggeistspital in Mindelheim . This kept the property in place until secularization . The forest law and the upper jurisdiction belonged to the rule Mindelheim , parishly the place belonged to the market Erkheim . The church, mentioned in 1679, was demolished in 1818, the private chapel St. Johannes Baptista with the choir possibly taken over from the previous church in 1918 due to dilapidation.
