Santa Lucia dei Magnoli is a Roman Catholic church in Florence . The church is named after St. Lucia , who died as a Christian martyr in the 4th century and was widely worshiped.

History and art

The building in Via dei Bardi was first mentioned in the 11th century. The builder was the knight Uguccione Della Pressa. After his death, the church was completed under his son Magnolo, which can still be seen today from the church's nickname. The church in its current form dates from the 16./17. Century.

On the front facade there is a lunette relief made of glazed terracotta , probably by Benedetto Buglioni . It depicts Saint Lucia between two kneeling angels . Inside the church there is a ceiling painting from 1842 and late baroque stucco work in the area of ​​the choir .
