Santa Margarida da Serra is a Portuguese municipality of Freguesia in the district of Grândola , with an area of 52.4 km² and 177 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). This corresponds to a population density of 3.4 inhabitants per km².
Santa Margarida da Serra is located in the mountains of the Serra de Grândola and is about 6 km from the district capital Grândola . The village lives from agriculture and cork mining in the vast forests of the Serra de Grândola that surrounds it, as well as from agriculture.
Pego da Moura
The dam of Pego da Moura or Pego da Mina is located in the district of Grândola on the national road 120, which connects Grândola with Santiago do Cacém shortly after the town of Santa Margarida da Serra in the direction of Grândola.
The dam was built under the Romans and was only discovered in the 20th century and classified accordingly in 1996 . The dam consists of three walls and six barriers that block a difference in height of 3 meters.
