history

In 1954 the parish was detached from the parish of Santa Maria Madre della Misericordia as a curate . Giuseppe Zander designed a church. Of this, however, only the crypt was built and the parish had to deal with a temporary solution for almost 50 years . On January 14, 1958, the parish was founded by Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara and left to the Congregation Misonariorum Servorum Pauperum for pastoral care. Since 1987 diocesan priests have taken on this task.

The church was built between 1998 and 2001 to designs by Tommaso Sbardella. It was founded by Cardinal Vicar on March 17, 2001 Camillo Ruini dedicated .

On November 14, 2015, Pope Francis elevated her to the title church.

The outside of the building is made of red bricks. Light enters through vertical windows. To the side is a free-standing concrete bell tower with a visible internal staircase that leads to the belfry , where five bells are arranged: one of them is dedicated to “the victims of the street”.

Inside the church has a rectangular nave: the choir and the entrance are in two opposite corners. The altarum with the high altar is slightly raised. Two stained glass windows by Mara Alessandri can be seen next to the altar.
