Sapar Batyrov

Sapar Batyrow ( Russian Сапар Батыров ; born November 29, 1967 in the Turkmen SSR ) is a Turkmen chess player who holds the title of Grand Master . With an Elo rating of 2340 ( as of December 2019 ), Batyrow is one of the best chess players in the country.

Career

Batyrov was already one of the best chess players in what was then the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic during the Soviet era . He took part in the 17th Soviet Team Championship in Volgograd in 1985 as part of the Turkmen team . At this tournament Batyrow could only get half a point from seven games and the Turkmen team in general also remained without a win in the tournament. Batyrov has played under the Turkmen flag since the collapse of the Soviet Union and Turkmenistan's independence in 1991. In July 1998 he achieved his highest rating to date with 2505 Elo points , in the same year he was also awarded the title of Grand Master .

Batyrov mainly takes part in tournaments in the states of the former Soviet Union, for example in recent years in larger tournaments in Lipetsk , Voronezh and Ashgabat . Batyrow also occasionally played tournaments in Germany, including several times at the Hamburg Wichern Open and in 2009 at the Lichtenrader Herbstturnier, where he finished 12th out of 169 participants.

He received the title of International Master in 1996, the Grand Master title in 1998. His highest rating was 2505 from July 1998 to June 1999.
