Sara Driver

Sara Driver (born December 15, 1955 in Westfield , New Jersey ) is an American actress , director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Sara Driver has been in a relationship with filmmaker Jim Jarmusch since the early 1980s . For Jarmusch's films, she initially worked as an actress or producer; after a brief separation, they both decided to separate their professional and private lives.

Driver graduated from New York University Graduate Film School in 1982 with a Master of Fine Arts .

In 1981 she made her directorial debut with You Are Not I. The film was considered lost for many years until a copy was found in the estate of the late author of the original, Paul Bowles . In 1986 her second film Sleepwalk was made . When pigs fly followed in 1993 .

From 1996 to 1998, Driver taught directing at the NYU Graduate Film School.

In 2017, Driver made the documentary Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat , for which she also acted as a film producer.
