Sara Shilo ( Hebrew שרה שילה; * 1958 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli author .

Life

She is an oriental Jew . Her mother is Iraqi , her father is of Syriac origin. She worked as a social worker in Ma'alot and founded a puppet theater there. In 2005 she published the novel Dwarfs Don't Come Here , which became a great success in Israel and was on the bestseller list for several months. In 2009, the novel was published in German translation by Anne Birkenhauer and has been discussed several times in German feature pages, including in the Swiss Neue Zürcher Zeitung , the Austrian newspaper Die Presse , in der Welt , the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and in literatures .

Sara Shilo is married and has five children.
