Maʿalot-Tarshiha ( Hebrew מעלות תרשיחא, Arabic معالوت ترشیحا, DMG Maʿālūt Taršīḥā ) is a city in the northern district of Israel , about 20 kilometers east of Nahariya .

The place arose after the establishment of the State of Israel and had the status of a development city . In 1963 Maʿalot was united with the neighboring town of Tarshiha, which is inhabited by Arabs .

Due to the unfavorable location in the mountains of the Upper Galilee and the proximity to Nahariya, Maʿalot developed very slowly and until the mid-1980s had fewer than 10,000 inhabitants. Maʿalot received significant impulses through the establishment of an industrial park ("Tefen") and the Tefen sculpture garden . The city has now grown to 21,422 inhabitants (2018).

An offshoot of the Docaviv International Documentary Film Festival is held here.
