Literatures was the title of a German literary magazine . It was published monthly from September 2000, later every two months by Friedrich Berlin Verlag . Founding editor was the publicist, cultural correspondent and literary critic Sigrid Löffler . In September 2008, Löffler gave up this position after content-related differences over the direction of the magazine. The initial print run was 80,000 copies, but dropped to 15,000 printed copies by 2011.
From October 2011, Ringier published literatures as an independent supplement to the Cicero , but in 2013, as part of the Salon section, was limited to four pages within the magazine. Special editions appear at book fairs.
For a time, Literatures was considered Germany's most influential literary magazine.

Despite its high intellectual standards, the magazine tries to be modern, relaxed and open to all topics in literature . The self-claim is to write about “all topics that move the literary world”, “from the literary house to the internet”. So there was B. Special issues on crime or science fiction .
The magazine reports on German and international new publications. It also offers background information in the form of essays , conversations and reports .
