Jörg Magenau

Jörg Magenau (* 1961 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German literary critic and non-fiction author.

Life

Magenau studied philosophy and German at the Free University of Berlin and graduated in 1990 with a thesis on identity and organization. Self-image as a writer in Group 47 and in the Association of German Writers . In 1990 he was one of the founders of the weekly newspaper der Freitag , of which he was literary editor until 1996. After a stopover at the weekly post office , he switched to taz in 1997 .

From 1999 to 2002 he wrote mainly for the “Berlin Pages” of the FAZ . Since then he has been a freelance writer for the Süddeutsche Zeitung , Deutschlandradio Kultur , taz and Tagesspiegel , among others . From 2002 to 2008 he was a columnist and editorial assistant for the magazine Das Magazin , and in 2009 editor of the literary magazine Literaturen .

In 1995 his work for Friday was awarded the Alfred Kerr Prize , in 2005 he received the Bahnhof Journalistenpreis . He wrote extensive monographs on Christa Wolf (2002) and Martin Walser (2005). In 2007 he published the contemporary history book "Die taz - Eine Zeitung als Lebensform". He participates in numerous juries and acts as a moderator of literary events.

Jörg Magenau lives in Berlin .
