Sarabande is an album by the English musician Jon Lord , which was recorded from 3rd to 6th September 1975 in Oer-Erkenschwick , according to the cover text "near Düsseldorf " with the Philharmonia Hungarica under Eberhard Schoener . It was published in 1976. The keyboardist from Deep Purple took up the musical form of the suite from the baroque music of Johann Sebastian Bach . Each track is reminiscent of a baroque dance : Fantasie , Sarabande , Aria , Gigue , Bourrée , Pavane , Caprice . Lord thus achieved one of the most compact and coherent rock albums in connection with classical music.
