life and work

Cooper is the daughter of Jamaican immigrants. She was born in Jamaica before her family in the 1980 United States to Rockville (Maryland) moved, where her father as an electrical engineer for public transport operators in neighboring Washington, DC ( Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority worked). As a teenager, Cooper was interested in show business and initially wanted to study theater studies. However, at her parents' request, she studied for a career outside of show business, earning a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Maryland, College Park, and then a master's in digital design from the Georgia Institute of Technology .

Cooper began doing stand-up comedy in Atlanta while she was at the Georgia Institute of Technology . After completing her studies, however, she first worked for Yahoo in San Francisco , then quit after a while to try her hand at full-time comedian. However, after this first attempt was unsuccessful, she took a job at Google . There she met her future husband, software engineer Jeff Palm, whom she married in 2015. After a blog post she wrote (“Ten Tricks to Be Smart at Meetings”) attracted greater attention in 2014, she left Google and wrote a book on the subject, which she published in 2016. This was followed by more books and again appearances in stand-up comedy. She also designed the website TheCooperReview.com and wrote a column for the Financial Times . After moving to New York City with her husband in 2018 , she and Nikki MacCallum hosted the comedy show You're So Brave at the Lantern Comedy Club in New York.

In spring 2020 during the Corona lockdown in New York, Cooper began to deal with the TikTok platform and was inspired there by the lip-synchronized videos for her Trump parodies. These quickly found an audience of millions on the Internet and made them known worldwide. Comedian colleagues like Ben Stiller , Jerry Seinfeld , Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres were enthusiastic, Cooper was then interviewed many times about their parodies and signed a contract with the William Morris Agency .

From September 2020 Cooper will have its own show with political skits and celebrity guests on Netflix with the title "Sarah Cooper: Everything's Fine".
