Sarcolytic is an American brutal death metal and technical death metal band from Austin , Texas , that was formed in 2003.

history

The band was founded in late 2003 as a side project by Images of Violence members and Disgorge member Ricky Myers. They wrote the first songs and released a first EP in 2004 through Lacerated Enemy Records , which contained three songs. In addition, two more appeared on the split release Limb Splitter , which was released via Ossuary Industries Records and on which, in addition to Sarcolytic, Devourment , Godless Truth and Sect of Execration were represented. The latter was a project by guitarist Watkins. After Myers moved to Texas in 2006, the band has become everyone's main project. The band then signed a contract with Unique Leader Records . This label released their debut album Thee Arcane Progeny in early 2010 . On the album, Luc Lemay von Gorguts could also be heard as a guest musician in the two songs Emissary and Resurrected for Bloodshed .

style

Jacob Holmes from examiner.com described the music on Thee Arcane Progeny as a mixture of brutal and technical death metal and drew sonic parallels to groups like suffocation and immolation . Steven Watkins' guitar playing would stand out particularly positively. The singing is reminiscent of groups like Belphegor .
