Sardarshahar is a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan .

The city is the capital of the Churu District . Sardarshahar has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 40 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 95,911 inhabitants, of which 49,669 were men and 46,242 women . The literacy rate in 2011 was 74.1% and thus similar to the national average. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of around 65%. Muslims form a minority with a share of around 31%.

Sardarshahar is 285 kilometers from the federal capital Jaipur and 56 kilometers from the district headquarters in Churu . It has its own RSRTC bus depot, which has been in operation here since 1976. It is also connected to Ratangarh by a railway line .
