Sascha Staat (born January 22, 1980 in Solingen ) is a German sports journalist , presenter and author .

Life

Sascha Staat grew up in the blade city of Solingen, where he returned in 2009 after working in Genoa , Rome , Innsbruck and Nuremberg . He mainly reports on handball and football , especially in the form of podcasts , but also on ice hockey and baseball .

State took its first journalistic steps at Radio RSG , a local radio station in North Rhine-Westphalia . The program Overtime, which could be heard until 2003, was distributed online in the early 2000s as a podcast.

Since May 2016 he has been working as a freelance sports journalist without exception. In the same year he was awarded the Herbert Zimmermann Prize by the Association of German Sports Journalists .

As a handball expert, he works at DAZN and has commented on games in the handball Bundesliga in the past . He is the voice of the BVB podcast of Ruhr Nachrichten and a freelance writer for Deutschlandfunk . He is best known for his handball podcast Kreis Ab .
