Saskia Durian-Ress

Saskia Durian-Ress (born June 25, 1943 in Munich ) is a German art historian .

Career

Durian-Ress, daughter of the art historian Anton Ress (1913–1972), studied art history , classical archeology and folklore at the University of Munich from 1962 . From 1968 to 1969 she was a DAAD scholarship holder in Brussels . In 1972 she received her doctorate from the University of Munich under Theodor Müller .

From 1973 to 1974 she did a traineeship at the State Museums in Munich ( Bavarian National Museum , Bavarian State Painting Collections , State Graphic Collection ). From 1974 to 1977 she worked at the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments as a consultant in practical monument preservation .

From 1977 to 1992 she was curator / senior curator at the Bavarian National Museum in Munich, specializing in textiles, costumes and graphics . From 1993 to 2002 she was director of the Augustinermuseum in Freiburg im Breisgau .

On her initiative, the Friends of the Augustinermuseum eV was founded in March 1994. She initiated the general renovation of the Augustinermuseum; The renovation of the adjacent Feierling building, which was carried out as the first construction measure in 2000, enabled the management and library rooms to move out of the building for the collection rooms.
